Using the RA Beauty Retouch Panel v3.0 Pixel Juggler is very simple and intuitive. Here are some basic steps to get you started:

  • Install the panels following the instructions on the Retouching Academy website[^1^]. Make sure you have a compatible version of Photoshop and that you unzip the downloaded package before installing.

  • Open Photoshop and go to Window > Extensions > Beauty Retouch v3.0 and Pixel Juggler to activate the panels. You can dock them into one tab group for easy access.

  • Open an image that you want to retouch and create a duplicate layer (Ctrl+J or Cmd+J). You can rename this layer as "Retouch" or something similar.

  • Select the "Retouch" layer and click on the "FS" button on the Beauty Retouch panel. This will create two layers: a low-frequency layer for smoothing out the skin texture and a high-frequency layer for preserving the skin details. You can adjust the radius of the Gaussian Blur filter that is applied to the low-frequency layer by moving the slider that pops up.

  • Select the low-frequency layer and use the "Liquify" button on the Beauty Retouch panel to make any adjustments to the shape of the face, eyes, nose, lips, etc. You can also use the "Warp Tool" button to access the Photoshop Warp Tool for more precise control.

  • Select the high-frequency layer and use the "Healing Brush Tool" button on the Beauty Retouch panel to remove any blemishes, spots, wrinkles, etc. from the skin. Make sure you sample from a clean area of skin that matches the tone and texture of the area you want to heal.

  • Select both frequency separation layers and group them (Ctrl+G or Cmd+G). You can rename this group as "FS" or something similar.

  • Create a new layer above the "FS" group and name it "D&B" or something similar. This layer will be used for dodging and burning, which is a technique of lightening and darkening certain areas of the image to enhance contrast and shape.

  • Select the "D&B" layer and click on the "Dodge & Burn" button on the Beauty Retouch panel. This will create two curve adjustment layers: one for dodging (lightening) and one for burning (darkening). You can adjust the opacity of these layers by moving the sliders that pop up.

  • Select the mask of the dodge layer and use a soft white brush with low opacity (around 10%) to paint over the areas that you want to lighten, such as highlights, cheekbones, nose bridge, etc. You can use the "[" and "]" keys to change the size of your brush.

  • Select the mask of the burn layer and use a soft black brush with low opacity (around 10%) to paint over the areas that you want to darken, such as shadows, contours, eye sockets, etc. You can use the "[" and "]" keys to change the size of your brush.

  • Select both dodge and burn layers and group them (Ctrl+G or Cmd+G). You can rename this group as "D&B" or something similar.

  • Create a new layer above the "D&B" group and name it "Sharpen" or something similar. This layer will be used for sharpening the image and enhancing details.

Select the "Sharpen" layer and click on the "Sharpen Eyes & Details" button on

the Beauty Retouch panel. This will create a smart object with a high pass filter applied to it. You can adjust
